I am now retired from formal instruction, but you are welcome to look around my site to see what I have done in the past.
FMQ I - FOCUS ON FREE-MOTION MACHINE QUILTING
This is a beginning free-motion machine class where you will learn to master your sewing machine as you “teach” it to follow your lead. Free-motion quilting is absolutely wonderful for finishing quilts or decorating wearable art, plus this class can be considered an introduction to one of the methods used in thread painting. Stitches and ideas for using this method are endless, so let your imagination go. Although no FMQ skills are required, intermediate machine skills are suggested.
FMQ II “BACKGROUND FILLERS”
This intermediate free-motion quilting class, will expand your freehand quilting as you learn to first draw, and then stitch, a variety of “open design” background. Drawing the designs and practicing them on paper will open your eyes to many possibilities, while training your hand and eyes to move in a free-style manner as you move from paper to fabric during this class. You will learn to travel through your design from area to area, while working with various shapes, styles, and sizes in creating the designs. Students should know the basics of FMQ and be able to stitch a stipple (meander) and e-loop pattern.

FEATHERS CLASS SAMPLES
My pillow shown here is an example of advanced FMQ. The quilting stitch I used is called “McTavishing” which is named for Karen McTavish, the creator of the stitch. The embroidery design is by Jenny Haskins.
